Appointments

We look forward to working with you on your writing! We offer appointments five days a week, 9am-8pm. Appointments are available both online and in-person at the Richter Library Learning Commons. 

If this is your first visit to the Writing Center, welcome! If you’re coming for a class assignment, please remember to have as many of the following items as are possible prior to your appointment:

  • Assignment Sheet
  • Grading Rubric
  • Draft (if you’ve started!)
  • Instructors’ Feedback (if provided)
  • Instructors’ AI Policy (if they’ve shared!)

Follow the instructions below to schedule your first appointment.

How to Schedule Your Session

  • Activating Your Account

    All members of the University of Miami community have access to the Writing Center using their UM Credentials. In order to activate your account:

    1. Visit our scheduling page
    2. Click the Log In button.
    3. Enter your UM credentials when prompted.
    4. Fill out demographic information

  • Scheduling Your Session

    Once you have logged in, you can either search for available appointments based on the day, time, consultant, or modality that you prefer or you can browse list on the of available appointments for that day and choose what works best to you.

  • Attending Your Session

    Online Sessions

    Our online sessions are facilitated via our scheduling system. If you choose to book an online appointment, simply return to the scheduling page, click on your scheduled session block, and click on the Start or Join Consultation button. See the guide above for more detailed information.

    In-Person Sessions

    In-Person Sessions take place on the first floor of the Richter Library. As you walk in through the turnstiles, continue toward the left side of the first floor. Once through the exhibit area, you will see a desk with a sign designating the area for the Writing Center. Please fill in the sign-in sheet at the desk.
