Our consultants are happy to support graduate students in all their writing endeavors. We have worked on course papers, journal articles, presentations, theses, dissertations, and more with grad students from every school and college at the University of Miami.
We have worked on course papers, journal articles, presentations, theses, dissertations, and more with grad students from every school and college at the University of Miami.
In addition to one-on-one consultations, we also host the Dissertation Writing Group and offer a Writing Coach service for students who would like to schedule recurring appointments with the same consultant.
The Writing Center hosts the Dissertation Writing Group in collaboration with the Graduate School. The goal of the DWG is to provide participants with both a sense of structure and a sense of community. Writing a dissertation can be a very lonely and stressful process. Building regular writing times into your schedule and having the opportunity to talk about the process with others who are going through the same thing can help make it less so. Note: starting in the fall, the point person for the DWG will be Sarah Cash (s.cash1@miami.edu)
The DWG is open only to doctoral students who are working on their dissertations. If you are interested in joining, please contact Nathaniel Deyo (n.deyo@miami.edu)
Graduate students working on large-scale projects who are interested in setting up recurring weekly appointments with a Writing Center consultant may be interested in our Writing Coach program. For more information about requesting a Writing Coach, please click here.
